An ongoing series is the ‘ARCHIVED HERO’ series, which depicts romanticized and commodified figures that are associated with history and pop culture.
The starting point are product images of toy figures that I have collected on various online sales platforms. They were sorted out and photographed in a way that is almost unembellished, in a private room on a table with a mobile phone camera as I imagine it. Partly I process the image material digitally first, but in the end it is transferred to canvas, by printing, drawing or painting so the image goes through several stages in the end.
A toy representing a character is just an imprint shaped by play. Figures that are charged with fantasy and a certain romanticism are losing their once shining status as changing times and new values shift their context.
