My practice explores the intersections of the present with paths shaped by history, focusing on how modernity inevitably intertwines with past narratives.
I explore how time shifts the context and meaning of objects and ideas, altering their interpretations over time. Currently, I’m working around the concept of overwriting. Symbolized by the image of a palimpsest. Mirroring the persistence of history colliding with the push toward progress.
I engage with objects and materials embedded in the collective memory of society. These items, while familiar, carry the weight of the past. They often exist as remnants, embodying a certain understanding of values and aesthetics passed down through generations. Yet they also confront the inevitability of obsolescence, standing as symbols of how the progressive ideals of one era can become anachronisms in another.
The question that occurs to me is how we can deal with things that already exist and how to manage the delicate balance between preservation and change.
